Netflix show has been praised by fans, who say it is the ‘best series they’ve ever seen’ and they can’t stop rewatching it.

The series has been highly rated by fans, many of whom have continued to rewatch all five seasons of it.

Viewers were hooked from the very first episode, with one lover of the series sharing: “The best show in the last years: action, realism, drama, trust and betrayal, love and slow burn…it has everything one needs to stay glued. The performance of the main cast is superb!”

Another writes: “One of the best series I have ever seen. Very powerful show. I loved it. The acting was excellent. I recommend this series to everyone.”

“My friend suggested this show and I believe it’s worth it. After I started to watch it, getting more and more curious to know what’s next. It’s addictive,” a third user responds.

A fourth adds: “Love the show – have been watching since Season 1 and have never been disappointed – amazing actor.”

“It’s my favorite TV show. Devious, diabolical, and intelligent characters. Unpredictable. Enough twists, turns, and subplots to keep you glued,” a fifth offers.

Director Joshua John Miller created the hit show alongside his partner writer M.A. Fortin.

The series is an American crime drama based on the Spanish-language telenovela, La Reina del Sur, which is also based on a novel by Arturo Pérez-Reverte.

Brazilian actress Alice Braga, who is known for her roles in Dark Matter and I Am Legend plays the lead in the series, and she stars alongside Peter Gadiot and Mexican actress Veronica Falcón.

The USA Network original has a score of 8/10 on IMDb and 68% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The synopsis for the show reads: “Teresa flees Mexico after her drug-runner boyfriend is murdered. Settling in Dallas she looks to become the country’s reigning drug smuggler and to avenge her lover’s murder.`’

The novel ‘La Reina del Sur,’ which inspired the series, takes inspiration from a real-life female drug lord, Marllory Chacón, whose nickname given by the Guatemalan press lent its title to the hit show.

She surrendered to US authorities in 2014.

The first season premiered in 2016, but even now new fans are discovering the show, and have been left bingeing all five seasons.

The series, whose ratings exceeded expectations in its first season last year, made a strong return for season 2 with 2.11 million total viewers.

Lead actress Braga spoke with Forbes about the importance of the work: “Having Latinos in front of the camera is important, because…when they’re watching the show, they can see themselves in it.”

She continued: “There’s such a huge Latino community, but if we don’t have Latinos in the director’s chair, if we don’t have Latinos in the writer’s room, in the decision-making rooms, meaning executive producers, you also don’t get certain stories told from that point of view.”

Despite Queen Of The South being popular with fans, the show finished with its fifth season.

The cancellation came due to USA Network’s decision to move away from originals.

However, the series is still available to watch on Netflix.
