Upon arrival, officers found two adults and three children dead. They were identified as Mark Humiston, 43, Sarah Humiston, 42, Katheryn, seven, Joshua, nine, and Benjamin, 13, CNN reported.

An 11-year-old girl, who was living on the property and who has not been named in documents, fled the home in the early morning hours to escape the shooting.

As reported by NBC News, the young girl was shot in the hand and neck but survived by playing dead after the suspect allegedly killed her younger sister, with whom she shared a room, per an affidavit.

She then exited through a window and ran to a neighbor’s home, where she phoned the police before being taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

As per CNN, the young victim told to police that the shooter was her 15-year-old brother. She told investigations that the weapon he used was her father’s silver Glock handgun and said that her brother was the only sibling who knew the combination to the lockbox.

The perpetrator was then arrested and held in a detention facility for juveniles.

A report obtained by The New York Post states that the 15-year-old also called 911 and alleged that his brother, who was killed, committed the heinous act after he was caught watching p*rnography the previous evening.

The accused teen killer also attempted to stage the crime scene to appear as if his brother “placed” a firearm in his sibling’s hand after the murderous rampage.

The suspect has now been charged with five counts of aggravated murder and one count of attempted murder with a firearm enhancement.

Prosecutors formally requested the teen’s case to be moved to adult court. If he’s convicted and charged in an adult court, he could be sentenced to 25 years to life with a statutory presumption of release after 25 years.

But if he is found guilty and his case remains in juvenile court, he could be held until age 25 with no further sanctions.

King County Council member Sarah Perry called the shooting “a terrible situation” adding: “My heart aches for the lives lost and all who are struggling to make sense of this loss right now.”

The 15-year-old’s father worked as an electrical engineer for Hargis Engineers. His company has issued a tribute statement, which read: “We are blindsided and saddened by the tragic events that have led to the loss of a respected colleague, mentor, and friend, as well as the loss of immediate family members.”
