A few years after Barack Obama said that Drake “can do anything he wants,” the Canadian rapper was seen partying with his two daughters, Malia and Sasha Obama.
The sisters were spotted at a Hollywood party with Drake, dressed in eye-catching outfits. Malia was showing her midriff, while Sasha wore a revealing top.
Read on to find out more about the former first daughters, who are now all grown up!
Growing up in the White House must have been tough for Malia and Sasha Obama, who were just young girls wanting to enjoy life.
Malia, born on July 4, 1998, and Sasha, born on June 10, 2001, are the daughters of former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. From 2009 to 2017, they lived at one of the world’s most famous addresses, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW.
“They are watched. They had to learn how to handle the attention, but do it politely. They had to build their own lives while in the spotlight without letting it consume them,” Michelle Obama said on the *Moments that Make Us* podcast with Melinda French Gates.
Michelle Obama continues, “Those girls had to be smart, confident, and independent right from the start, even while living in a house with butlers, maids, and florists. But I always thought, ‘You won’t live here with me forever. I need to prepare you to take control of your own life soon.’”
Malia
In 2014, when Malia was getting ready for prom, her dad found it hard to accept that his firstborn was growing up so fast.
“I think it’s fair to say that the first time you see your daughter in heels, it’s a little bit jarring,” Barack Obama said on *Live with Kelly & Michael*. “She’s lovely. She’s beautiful.”
After finishing high school in 2016, Malia took a gap year before starting at Harvard University, where she graduated in 2021.
During her gap year, Malia showed interest in entertainment by working in the industry. She took roles like production assistant on Halle Berry’s CBS sci-fi drama *Extant* and worked as a writer on the Amazon series *Swarm*.
In 2024, Malia, using the name Malia Ann, made her debut at the Sundance Film Festival with *Heart*, a short film she wrote and directed.
Sasha
In 2008, Barack Obama told *People* that Sasha “is full of energy and the comedian in the family.”
After finishing high school in 2019, Sasha began her first year at the University of Michigan, studying online during the Covid pandemic.
Sasha, now 23, graduated from the University of Southern California in May 2023 with a degree in sociology.
The sisters now live together in a home in Los Angeles.
“It feels good to know that the two girls you raised find comfort sitting at a kitchen table with each other. It’s the one thing you hope for them,” Michelle Obama shared.
All grown up
Malia and Sasha also find comfort in partying together.
The two were photographed partying late into the night with Canadian rapper Drake at The Bird Streets Club in Los Angeles, both dressed in revealing outfits perfect for the event.
Sasha showed off her midriff in a black cropped corset, which she paired with loose, low-slung cargo pants and open-toe shoes.
She styled her braids in a high ponytail and added sparkle with jewelry on her ears, necklace, and rings.
Matching her sister’s free-spirited vibe, Malia wore a sheer lace-up top with high-waisted printed pants that hugged her curves.
Malia wore her long brown hair over her shoulders and finished her outfit with chunky lug sole boots.
Reports say the girls partied at the Hollywood hotspot until 4 a.m. before getting into a car with their friends.
Obamas and Rap Royalty
Drake, who has a mutual admiration for the Obamas, was in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center) for his “It’s All A Blur Big As The What?” tour.
The Toronto-born rapper has even shown interest in playing Barack Obama if a biopic is ever made.
“I hope someone makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him,” the “God’s Plan” singer said in 2010.
In 2020, the former president shared his thoughts about the idea.
“I will say this, Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants,” Barack Obama said when asked about the rapper wanting to play him in a film. “I mean, he is a talented, talented brother. So, if the time comes and he’s ready…”
