Denzel Washington just announced a slew of new projects and with it comes a surprise that many may not have seen coming.
Denzel Washington, 69, is preparing to step away from Hollywood after completing a final slate of films, signaling the end of a career that has spanned decades.
Speaking with Australia’s Today show, Washington shared, “I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make. Probably not that many.”
His upcoming endeavors include reprising his role as Othello, a character he first played at age 22
Beyond that, he’s hinted at collaborating with Steve McQueen and Ryan Coogler, who is reportedly crafting a role for him in the next Black Panther film. Washington also mentioned projects like King Lear before teasing, “After that, I’m going to retire.”
Earlier this year, Washington opened up about his desire to be involved with Gladiator II.
“There are very few films left for me to make that I’m interested in, and I have to be inspired by the filmmaker,” the actor said.
