Richest actor on the planet is worth around $3 billion – but most people will struggle to recognize her

Money and fame often go hand-in-hand.

One way to become famous is by succeeding in a career in media and entertainment – with some of the world’s top actors amassing millions of fans across the globe.

But actors don’t just gain fame through their performances, they’re also earning substantial incomes (well, if you’re talented enough). A well-known name can attract attention and consumers, which is highly valued by production companies and sponsors.

Yes, it goes without saying that wealth and stardom are often inextricably linked – and the richer the actor, the more popular they are.

However, although you’ve almost certainly heard of stars like Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Margot Robbie – none of them boast a fortune quite like the richest actor on the planet.

Meet Jami Gertz, The Lost Boys star and the world’s richest actor, boasting a staggering net worth of $3 billion as of 2023, according to NME.

But despite the huge net worth, you’re probably wondering, “Who is Jami Gertz?”

In fact, after an image of the star went viral on social media recently, one person commented: “I’m off to Google first cos this is giving I don’t know who this person is.”

Another added: “How come I hardly see Jami Gertz in movies? Did she make it from acting, or does she have other incomes?”

Well, Gertz made memorable appearances in movies like Twister and Sixteen Candles, as well as popular TV shows including Seinfeld, Modern Family, and This is Us.

And while she briefly returned to the screen in 2022 for the movie I Want You Back, she has largely stayed away from the spotlight in recent years, focusing instead on growing her vast fortune.

Alongside her husband, Tony Ressler, she owns a significant stake in the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks and a minority ownership of the Milwaukee Beavers. And their savvy investments have clearly paid off.

In fact, Ressler himself is estimated to be worth around $10.8 billion, according to Forbes.

She and her husband have also been substantial donors to charity. In 2012, the Giving Back Fund recognized them as top philanthropists following their $10 million contribution to the Ressler-Gertz Foundation, supporting the arts, education, health, and Jewish causes, per Forbes.

Their philanthropic efforts show that it’s not just about wealth accumulation; they’re also committed to giving back. So, who else in Hollywood matches their charitable giving?

In yet another story of an unfortunate statue, the sculptor who created one of NBA legend Dwayne Wade has spoken out.

The statue of Wade, unveiled outside Miami’s Kaseya Center, has stirred social media debate, with some fans saying the sculpture doesn’t resemble the retired Miami Heat star.

The bronze statue captures Wade in an iconic 2009 moment, shouting “this is my house” after sinking a game-winning three-pointer against the Chicago Bulls.

However, reactions from fans and public figures were mixed. Some critics claimed the statue’s face bore more resemblance to actors Laurence Fishburne or Kelsey Grammer than to Wade.

Fellow NBA Hall of Famer Paul Pierce even suggested Wade deserved a “redo,” saying the Heat legend was “too legendary” for the statue to miss the mark, per BBC News.

“Dwyane Wade’s Heat career – 15 seasons, 3 championships, all-time leader in points, games, assists, and steals – and one completely unrecognizable statue,” sports outlet Barstool Sports posted on X.

One of the statue’s creators, Omri Amrany, responded to the backlash, expressing a belief that art should provoke strong reactions.

“I want to be an artist that creates an in-your-face response,” Amrany told Front Office Sports. “You cannot expect all of human society will have a positive reaction.”

He added to WPLG Local 10 News: “I couldn’t do better than that. I don’t think anybody else can do better than that. It is what it is, and we will love it forever.”

Amrany, who collaborated with Wade on the design and has also crafted statues of NBA greats like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan, explained that Wade personally selected the celebrated moment depicted in the sculpture and had visited the studio several times to offer feedback.

Wade, however, has maintained his support for the piece. “Personally, I’m biased, I think it’s one of the best statues that’s been created because of what it represents for us and for me,” he told the Miami Herald.

Wade also praised the piece as “beautiful” during the unveiling ceremony on Sunday.

Well, a weird statue of her has also emerged.

The statue, crafted from papier-mâché and decorated with rubber gloves, a tracksuit, and an Olympic flag, captures Gunn mid-air in her signature “kangaroo” move.

Pamela Anderson has spoken out after Liam Neeson declared that he was “madly in love with her” during an interview.

The pair are set to star in a reboot of the Naked Gun together, and it appears their time on set has led to a mutual admiration.

In this new installment, Anderson takes on the role of a “femme fatale” opposite Neeson, who portrays Frank Drebin Jr., presumed to be the son of Leslie Nielsen’s iconic character, Frank Drebin.

Neeson, 72, recently sat down with PEOPLE where he confessed his love for 57-year-old Anderson.

“With Pamela, first off, I’m madly in love with her. She’s just terrific to work with,” the Taken star began.

He continued: “I can’t compliment her enough, I’ll be honest with you. No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She’s funny and so easy to work with. She’s going to be terrific in the film.”

Neeson further explained that he adores Anderson’s comedic skills, but is less sure of his own.

Anderson, however, has full confidence in her co-star.

“It was hard to keep a straight face in scenes together,” she said, describing Neeson as “humble” and “the perfect gentleman.”

Their camaraderie on set extended beyond the scenes, with both stars exchanging thoughtful gestures.

Anderson recalled that Neeson “sincerely looked after me — wrapped his coat around me when I was cold.”

In return, she baked him bread and cookies, leaving them in his dressing room as a token of appreciation.

The reboot, directed by Saturday Night Live alum Akiva Schaffer, also stars Paul Walter Hauser and Danny Huston.

Neeson’s connection to the project came through producer Seth MacFarlane, his co-star in A Million Ways to Die in the West, who approached him with the idea.

“They are going to reboot it, would you be interested?” MacFarlane asked, to which Neeson replied: “Yeah, I would actually.”

While Neeson has become synonymous with action roles since his breakout in Taken, he is ready to try his hand at comedy before planning to retire from action films in 2025.

In terms of any blossoming romances between Anderson and Neeson, it seems like it’s platonic love at the moment.

A toxicology report revealed that Perry tragically died from acute effects of ketamine. The report listed the manner of death as accidental drowning.

The actor’s death led led to a police investigation being launched in May, which authorities say uncovered a “broad underground criminal network” of drug suppliers who distributed large quantities of ketamine, per BBC News.

One year on from the tragedy, and Perry’s mother, Suzanne Perry, stepdad Keith Morrison, and sisters Emily, Caitlin, and Madeleine Morrison, have all opened up about their grief in an emotional interview with the Today Show.

The actor’s stepdad gushed: “[To light up a room is] something you’re born with or you’re not born with. And he was certainly born with it in spades.”

Perry underwent ketamine infusion therapy for anxiety and depression in the days before his passing. He candidly spoke about his struggles with substance abuse in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.

The 17 Again star revealed that he’d “dissociate” when he took ketamine and would “often thought that I was dying during that hour”.

“Oh, I thought, this is what happens when you die. Yet I would continually sign up for this s**t because it was something different, and anything different is good,” he penned. “Taking K is like being hit in the head with a giant happy shovel. But the hangover was rough and outweighed the shovel. Ketamine was not for me.”

In the Today interview, Suzanne said despite being a “very lucky woman” there was one problem she “couldn’t conquer” when it came to her beloved son’s addiction. “I couldn’t help him,” she tearfully shared. “You’ve got to stop blaming yourself because it tears you up.”

The grieving parents then recalled the moment they learned of their son’s death. Morrison revealed that someone called his wife and broke the news, not giving context on who had called.

She then revealed the six words she was told down the phone.

Perry’s loved ones have launched the Matthew Perry Foundation, which will help those battling substance abuse.

“What he taught the world was that no amount of money will cure an addict. It needs something else. And that’s what we are trying to do,” Keith explained, stating that it “appeared to be as if” his son was sober before he passed.

“Although, you know, he was a guy who would make decisions. ‘I can handle this. I can do this. I can tell you what’s right. I know the whole system inside and out. I know what the drug will do to me.’ And so there was that worry of, ‘What is he really doing?’” he asked.

One of his sisters said: “I don’t even know if in his mind he had relapsed.” Keith agreed, adding: “I don’t think he did.”

Suzanne heartbreakingly shared that she often calls her late son when something funny happens in her life and will sit and talk with him at the cemetery.

Johnny Depp shares how he really feels about Amber Heard two years since winning defamation case

Johnny Depp has opened up about the impact of his high-profile 2022 defamation trial against Amber Heard – and shared how he really feels about his ex-wife.

A little over two years ago, 61-year-old Depp emerged victorious in a very public defamation case that stemmed from Heard’s 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post – where she described herself as a victim of domestic abuse.

Despite Depp initially being awarded $15 million by the courts and Heard being awarded $2 million in compensation after winning one of her three counter-claims, the former couple came to an agreement that the Aquaman star would only pay Depp $1 million in order to settle the case.

Throughout the trial, each of the Hollywood stars made damning claims against one another, and led to a number of unsavory headlines in the press.

Fast-forward two years, and Heard – now 38 – has moved to the Spanish city of Madrid and is content to raise her two-year-old daughter away from the Los Angeles noise.

And it looks like Depp is also in a good place, as he recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss his new directorial role on Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness.

When asked about how his life was turned into a “soap opera” for the world to see, Depp opened up about the lasting impact of the trial and the lessons he learned.

“I can sit here this very second and think about all the hit pieces, and how everybody was against me, and yeah, yeah, yeah, he is off the map… endless stuff,” he said. “I can remember it all. Went through it all.

“Some of it was not the most beautiful time, some of it was hilarious. Some of it was mad.

“The thing is, it simply just was, and it simply just is. So, for me, it happened. I learned, man. Everything that we experience, whether you’re given a snow cone or walking your dog, you learn something somewhere along the way.”

Depp then revealed that he doesn’t harbor “any ill feelings toward anyone” – including Heard.

He continued: “I don’t have this great reserve of hatred, because hatred requires caring. Why carry that baggage?”

Depp’s comments come after Heard was asked about her ex-husband last month, to which she said: “I’m living here in Madrid, I love Spain.

The Penguin star ran for Debra Ireland, a charity that supports people who suffer from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – known as “butterfly skin” – a rare disease that causes the skin to be fragile and to blister easily.

For the last four kilometers of the race, Farrell was joined by his close friend Emma Fogarty, 40, who is the longest-surviving person in Ireland with EB.

She was born with no skin on her left foot and right arm and experiences excruciating blisters from the slightest touch. Each kilometer the actor ran represented one decade Fogarty has lived with the skin condition.

“I have known Emma for many years and she epitomizes bravery, she is what courage and pure determination are all about,” he said, cited by The Independent. “That run was nothing compared to the pain she is forced to endure every single day, even though she doesn’t show it.”

“It was an honor to see her waiting for me with four kilometers to go, each of those representing a decade of her life, and to do the final stretch together. I’ll never forget it,” he added.

As many of you know, the reason I’ve done this is because I’ve hit the big 4-0 this year, and I wanted to mark it in a huge way. But, it’s you – the public – that’s made it even bigger and more special than ever.”

The 42-year-old Academy Award winner opened up about learning self-defence from a specialist combat expert as part of his training for the role and revealed that he was taught how to use his mobile phone as a weapon to hit an attacker in the neck.

Paul Mescal, who will star in Gladiator alongside Denzel Washington, then quipped that he would not think of pulling out his phone during an attack.

“Who is actually going to think about that? If someone actually attacked me, I’m not going to go ‘phone,’” the 28-year-old actor pointed out, then gesturing as if to take a phone out of his pocket.

Ronan attempted to respond, but the audience’s reaction made it hard for her to get the words out, at first. Mescal then continued to joke: “Sorry Mom, one second – bang,” while pretending to talk on an invisible phone.

“That’s a very good point,” Redmayne chimed in afterward, as host Norton began to mime checking his pockets.

“Her ‘I think that-‘ before hitting them with the ‘that’s what girls have to think about all the time’ after they finally stopped joking around, her being the only woman in the conversation hit really hard then. I love checking (even the nicest) men on s**t they never consider,” a second user said.

Another went on: “I like this clip bc these two are arguably some of the least toxically masculine actors, who have shown real intention to make space for female voices in their careers, and yet they are men, so they will never live in a woman’s skin and truly understand the violence we live with.”
